There are certain moments in your children's lives that seem to arrive overnight.

As a photographer, one of my favorite things is having the opportunity to be present for those special life events for my clients: engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, family, senior sessions...I'm here for it all!
I get to watch families grow and see the changes from year to year. Each season is unique, but it is all part of your story. And there is just nothing better than getting to preserve those moments along the way.
Senior year is one of those seasons that deserves to be celebrated.
Your child has worked hard, accomplished so much, and is standing on the edge of something completely new. Big changes are on the horizon as they prepare to graduate from high school and take those first steps toward whatever comes next.
They are about to test their wings. And that is worth celebrating.
The Years Go By Faster Than You Think
I have had so many parents tell me during senior sessions how quickly the time went.
They remember the little kid.
They remember the family vacations, the first day of school, the sports seasons, the birthday parties, the laughter, the challenges, and all of the ordinary days that somehow became their childhood.
And now their child is a senior.
I think that is one of the reasons I love photography so much. Photographs give us a chance to pause. (Look here to see why I encourage families to get photos during every season!)
Life doesn't actually slow down, but for a moment, we can stop and look at where we've been.
A senior portrait session isn't just about documenting what your child looks like at 17 or 18. It's about preserving who they are in this particular season of their life.
Their personality.
Their interests.
Their relationships.
Their confidence.
Their quirks.
The things that make them them.
And someday, when this season has passed, those photographs will be a reminder of who they were just before they stepped into the next chapter.
Senior Pictures Should Look Like Them

Your senior pictures don't have to be awkward.
You don't have to know how to pose.
You don't have to spend the entire session smiling at the camera.
And you definitely don't have to become someone you're not just because you're having professional photographs taken.
My goal during a senior photography session is to help you relax and feel comfortable enough to let your genuine personality come through.
I'll give you direction so you aren't standing there wondering what to do with your hands, where to look, or whether you're supposed to smile. But I'll also give you room to move, laugh, talk, and simply be yourself.
We want your senior portraits to feel natural and authentic—not like a collection of poses you were told to perform.
Years from now, I want you to look at your senior photos and think, "Yep. That's me."
Your Senior Session Should Tell Your Story
One of my favorite parts of senior photography is finding ways to make each session personal.
Your senior session doesn't have to look like anyone else's.
Maybe you love playing soccer.
Maybe you're a musician.
Maybe horses have always been a huge part of your life.
Maybe you have a favorite hiking spot, a family property, a downtown location you love, or somewhere that simply feels like you.
Bring those things into your senior portraits!
And yes, I'm always happy to include a beloved pet. Because if your dog, horse, or other four-legged best friend is an important part of your life, why wouldn't they be part of your story?
These personal touches transform senior pictures from simply being beautiful portraits into photographs that actually tell us something about the person you're becoming.
What to Expect During a Senior Photography Session

My senior sessions are relaxed and personalized. Before your session, we'll talk about what you're looking for and what matters to you.
We'll consider things like:
- Location: We can choose a location that fits your personality and the look you want for your senior portraits.
- Outfits: Bring a couple options that make you feel confident and comfortable. We can incorporate different looks throughout your session.
- Interests and hobbies: Sports, music, horses, pets, art, vehicles, or anything else that is meaningful to you can become part of your photographs.
- Posing: I'll guide you throughout the session so you don't have to know how to pose. We'll also incorporate movement and natural interactions so the images don't feel stiff.
- Personality: Most importantly, we'll make room for who you actually are. Some seniors are outgoing and playful. Others are quieter and more reserved. There is no one right way to do a senior session.
And parents, you're welcome to be involved too!
At the end of the session, I encourage parents to plan to join us for a few meaningful photographs with their senior.
