As a wedding photographer, I love those first conversations with clients. You are newly engaged, the excitement is tangible, and your story is both unique and beautifully woven together. You are getting ready to commit your lives together as a couple. Your wedding day is so special, and I always feel honored to be asked to be a part of it!

I have talked with couples at the beginning of the journey and those that, for whatever reason, are scrambling at the last minute to make sure these important moments are documented in a beautiful way. And while I am here for every couple, no matter where you find yourself in the wedding planning journey, I highly recommend booking your wedding photographer very early in the process! Keep reading to find out some of the many reasons this one decision can make things easier for you as an engaged couple.

1. You Want to Connect with Your Photographer

Your photographer will spend the majority of the day with you on one of the most important days of your life. You want to find someone that makes you feel comfortable. You will need a calm presence, somebody that notices all of the details and is quick to capture them, somebody with experience, and above all, someone that really listens to your vision and helps to capture your wedding day in a way that you will treasure. There are no do overs with weddings, so take the time that you need to be sure the photographer you choose is the right one for you. 2. Lock in Pricing Before It Goes Up

Your photographer will only gain more experience and skill as you plan your wedding. Prices will probably go up. The earlier that you book, the sooner you can lock in your price.

3. Secure Your Dream Photographer Before They Book Up

Schedules can fill quickly. Once you have your date set with your venue, you want to make sure that the photographer you want is open for your specific day. The longer you wait, the harder this will be. You don't want to be stuck scrambling. Wedding days are stressful enough without adding the stress of looking for a photographer at the last minute.

4. More Time to Communicate Your Vision

The earlier you book your photographer, the more time you have to make sure they understand your vision. Be clear on what is important to you. If you are doing things out of the norm, communicate those details. Be sure that your photographer has a heads up on the moments that you really want captured.

As a wedding photographer in Medford, Grants Pass, and Ashland, I love to have the time to connect with my clients and get to know both the things they are looking forward to and the things they might be a little anxious about. This is why I always include an engagement session in my wedding packages. Southern Oregon has so many beautiful locations for engagement sessions! And the relaxed nature of this type of session gives us time to connect, share details, and get to know each other a little bit before the big day. I want you to feel like your photographer is a friend and ally walking into your wedding day, not a stranger that you hope will capture the most important moments.

Every wedding day is unique. If you are newly engaged and just starting to dream about your big day, I can't wait to connect and hear about the things that are important to you. For more wedding planning tips, check out this post on Basic Invite Wedding Invitations.
